Rules

1. The SPN/PlaySlopitch rules and the Elevated Softball Association Rules of Play govern this League

3. No protests are allowed: the umpires’ decision is final.

4. Any rule, situation or incident not covered will be reviewed and decided by the Umpire in Chief/Commissioners.

5. Players:

  • All players must be registered online and Photo ID or Birth Certificates or Health Cards must be available upon request.
  • The penalty for ineligible players is expulsion of the player or team from the league. (commissioner’s discretion)
  • Players may enter and exit the game defensively at any time and in any position.
  • No metal spikes permitted. Steel and Plastic toe caps must be removed for base running
  • All registered players will bat in rotation every game
  • Teams must start each game with 9 players and cannot play with fewer than 8
  • If a player arrives late, they may be added to the bottom of the line up provided you have not gone through the complete batting order.
  • In the event of an injury or illness resulting in a player being removed from the game, there shall be no “out” when the player is due to bat and they are skipped over.
  • In the event a player is ejected from a game, an “out” shall be recorded each and every time the player’s spot in the batting rotation comes up.
  • All players must wear Team jerseys that are matching (including number on back). If a player is not wearing a matching jersey there is a fine of $100 which must be paid by the next game.
  • Jersey rule is not in effect for emergency players
  • In the event of a team forfeit a fine of $150 is placed which must be paid before the next game.
  • If a team is planning on Forfeiting a game, an advanced notice of 24 hours is required for the fine not to be placed
  • In the event of a forfeit the game will result a score of 7-0 for the winning team
  • Players must play 10 games to qualify for playoffs
  • In the playoffs all players must wear a matching jersey.

6. Ejections:

    • -Any coach and or player ejected from a game as a result of their conduct must leave the ball park within five minutes. Failure to leave within 5 minutes will result in the disqualification of the entire team. The ejected coach or player will automatically be required to sit out of their next scheduled game. -If a coach or player is ejected from a game, they may seek the League Convenors approval in order to coach or play in the next scheduled game. The convener has the right to apply a one game suspension or a league depending on the reason why the coach or player were ejected in the first place.
    • -Fans may be allowed to be ejected by an umpire. Fans are the responsibility of the Head coach/Captain. Harassment and / or misconduct by fans will result in a warning followed by the ejection of the Head Coach/Captain,if the warning is not heeded. If a coach/captain is ejected they may seek the league Convenors approval in order to coach/play the next scheduled game.
    • -Any player or players involved in the consumption of any drugs or alcohol near the playing area, that player and team shall be ejected. and the team will be fined $150.
    • -FIghting or any unwanted behaviour done by Coaches, Players, Fans/supporters is unacceptable. If an altercation occurs there will be investigations placed which may result in suspensions, fines or expulsions from the league and police may be contacted.
    • -ESA committee has final say on any league matters/rules that are not explicitly listed on this page. Rules are subject to change without notice by ESA to maintain the integrity of the league
